How to Choose an HP Gaming Laptop
Victus vs OMEN
HP’s Victus line, like the Victus 15, focuses on value with capable gaming at lower prices, while the OMEN line offers sharper displays, stronger cooling, and premium build. Choose Victus for affordable mainstream gaming, or OMEN for a premium machine with a better screen and more refined design.
Graphics and display
Match the graphics and display to your games. The budget Victus 15 handles 1080p gaming well, while premium OMEN and 16-inch models offer sharper 2K or WQXGA panels at 165Hz for high-refresh, high-detail gaming. Buy for the resolution and frame rates you want.
Screen size and portability
HP gaming laptops range from 15-inch Victus and OMEN models to larger 16-inch machines with sharper displays. Smaller models are easier to carry, while 16-inch models give a more immersive view and often more RAM and storage at the cost of weight. Balance portability against screen size.
RAM, storage, and creation
For gaming alone, 16GB of RAM and a 512GB-1TB SSD are plenty, but creators benefit from the 32GB RAM and 2TB SSD in the higher-end 16-inch models. If you edit video or work with large files alongside gaming, the more generous configurations are worth it.
Cooling and value
OMEN models invest more in cooling for sustained performance and quieter operation, while Victus models still cool adequately and deliver strong value. If you game for long sessions or want a sharper display, OMEN has the edge; for the most performance per dollar, Victus is the smart pick.
