This page explains how PC Gear Picks selects and scores the products featured in our buying guides and reviews.
How We Select Products
We start with the products readers are most likely to consider — popular, well-reviewed, and widely available models in each category. We then narrow the field by comparing specifications, features, build quality, value, and real-world feedback to shortlist the strongest options.
What Our Score Means
Each featured product receives an editorial score from 0 to 10. The score reflects a blend of features, performance, reliability, and value relative to other products in the same category and price range. A higher score means a product offers a stronger overall package for most buyers.
Missing Ratings, Reviews, and Prices
Some product data — such as live prices, ratings, or review counts — is pulled from third-party sources and may occasionally be unavailable or out of date. When that happens, the information may be missing or shown as approximate. Always confirm the current price and availability on the retailer’s website before buying.
Testing and Evidence
Our rankings are based on documented specifications, aggregated user feedback, and published expert analysis. Where hands-on impressions are available, we factor them in. We aim to be transparent about what each recommendation is based on.
Affiliate and Editorial Independence
Scores and rankings are determined independently. Affiliate commissions do not affect how a product is scored or where it appears in a guide.
